Last week’s theme at Sensational Haiku Wednesday was Annoyance.
spring annoyances
mixtures of pollen and snow
filling every breath
Yesterday, we had both a winter storm warning and a local pollen alert at the same time.

NaPoWriMo begins:
after months of cold stillness
winter hibernation ends
summer job resumes
foaling season begins
the garden blossoms
picnic fields entice
NaPoWriMo starts
spring warmth reawakening
whirlwind of returning life

Bald eagles are hatching live at the Eaglecam at Alcoa – Davenport, Iowa.
new life emerging
reaching for the sun and warmth
of Spring’s longer days
Dorothy, the peregrine falcon mom at the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was a few minutes early this morning. First egg laid at 12:55 AM, the official time of the Equinox was 1:14 AM.

A beautiful way to celebrate the first day of Spring!

at Winter Solstice
the darkness begins to yield,
with dawn on Imbolc
sap, life blood, climbs from the snow,
the Spring Equinox
brings the warm winds to the land,
glorious Beltaine
rainbow of fertility,
Summer Solstice sun
midday heat brings fruition,
Lammas, bread rises
the feast of the corn maiden,
the Fall Equinox
second harvest, thanksgiving,
Samhain, thinnest veil
farewell to the fading year,
as the wheel spins round again.

Cloaked Monk was kind enough to include my very late offering of Patterns into the March Challenge, and now I feel that I should try to climb back up on the wagon. Today’s prompt:
March 22nd is “National Goof Off Day.” Reflect on spontaneity.
With the Equinox just past, this seemed most appropriate.
cleansing breath of spring
a child’s spontaneity
dancing in the sun
winter’s memory dismissed
melting away with the snow
