The Height of Haiku Challenge, Day 8 – Prompt #66 – Hidden

Lower Cucumber Falls20100321_96

secret hidden nook
place of quiet solitude
refuge from chaos

As a child, I had a special nook where I could escape from the hustle-bustle world. A stone ledge overlooked a small waterfall in the stream in the backyard. Off the beaten path, below the edge of the embankment, in a hollow of growing green, all sound drowned out by the rushing water, I could hide from the mundane world. The above photo is not my old retreat, but a fair approximation of that magical spot.
